CPI said opposition leader has violated protocol norms

  • CPI said that opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala violated protocol norms who allegedly accepted gift from key who is accused in case of Swapna Suresh-a former executive secretary at UAE Consulate.
  • This issue had got a new twist another day after managing director of UNITAC builders in an affidavit told HC that he has purchased an iphone for Chennithala at behest of Suresh .
  • Besides 6 iphones are bought at behest of Suresh which are to be given as gift for dignitaries who attended UAE National Day celebrations on 2nd December last year. Chennithala is one of dignitaries at event & Eapen does not mention other names allegedly that accepted the gift.
  • After party of secretariat meeting, Balakrishnan had told media that Chennithala demanded Jaleel’s resignation on charges of accepting Ouran & dates from UAE Consulate in violation of protocol.

Formation of a committee to draft rules regarding The Learning of Marathi Language in Schools

  • It is announced that dep sets up committee to draft rules on implementation of Maharashtra Compulsory Teaching & Learning of Marathi Language in Schools Act, 2020.
  • This Act has mandated compulsory teaching & learning of Marathi in all schools from Class I to X across all mediums & boards in Maharashtra.
  • According to Section 16(1) of Act which had allowed state for framing rules for law that had come into being on 1st April & eight-member committee is formed by department which is to be headed by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) .

Digitally launched construction of 750 rural stadiums: Punjab CM

  • Punjab CM had digitally launched construction of 750 rural stadiums & playgrounds which flagged off a fleet of ambulances & oversaw signing of an MOU for conferring of ownership rights on slum dwellers.
  • The 750 stadiums which are to be built at cost of Rs105 crore under state govt’s rural transformation strategy in rural areas & Tandarust Punjab Mission will help youths to channelize their energy in a constructive manner.
  • A target of minimum five stadiums per block is set by govt. which is to be completed in 2020-21 & it is also said that adding new village stadiums must be named after eminent sportspersons in order to inspire youths to excel in sports at national & international levels.

India’s coronavirus deaths crossed 1 lakh where Maharashtra has 40%:

  • India’s Covid-19 deaths had crossed mark of 1 lakh where three days after global toll touched 1 million. This means that India accounts for nearly 10% of world’s Covid-19 deaths.
  • India has been contributing 15% and 25% of global deaths on daily basis. Between 4,000 & 6,000 people are dying every day & India is reporting more than 1,000 daily deaths for over a month.
  • India’s deaths recorded almost 38,000 fatalities so far & had high CFR of 2.67%.
  • The country’s highest CFR is in Punjab which is 3% & state had low caseload of 1.15 lakh but approx. 3,500 deaths. Nearly 2,000 deaths had been reported in September when cases had risen by 60,000.

IP ordinances have to be eased | India and S. Africa submits to WTO

  • The World Trade Organisation has been asked to make Intellectual Property rules ease by the India and South Africa.
  • So that the treatment for COVID – 19 can be made easier and this makes sure that the developing countries are not left out.
  • Because of the restrictions the vaccines are not accessed properly. It is said that developing countries are “disproportionately impacted” in the Council.

Haji Hussain Ansari, the minister of Jharkhand expires

  • On Saturday, the minority welfare minister of Jharkhand Mr. Haji Hussain Ansari expired at Ranchi hospital
  • He was the senior JMM leader, and aged 73 and was admitted in hospital two weeks before after diagnosed with COVID –19.
  • He was recovered and tested negative recently. He died because of the cardiac arrest where he had a heart surgery few days before. 

Ramdas says politics should not be done on cruelty in Dalit incidents – Hathras incident

  • Ramdas Athawale, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment says that the in politics should not be done in the cruelty acts held for Dalits.
  • On Saturday, he spoke regarding the Hathras rape incident which he mentioned that it was brutal.
  • He addressed that he will meet the Chief Minister and say that the politics should not be involved in the atrocities on Dalit during the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government.

Bonosagar’sn began on October 3

  • Indian and Bangladesh Navy bilateral exercise bonosagar’s 2nd edition was on 3rd October in Northern Bay of Bengal.

State of Bengal launched Pathashree Abhiyan Scheme

  • West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee announced a road repair scheme titled Pathashree Abhiyan.
  • Under this scheme, 7,000 stretches of roads will be repaired in a time- bound manner.
  • The repairing work would be finished by 2021.
  • The state allocated Rs 500 crore for this scheme.

A portal launched by Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal

  • The portal named Kritagyata has been launched by Assam CM to lend convenience to the pensioners to dispose of their pension related claims.
  • This portal will provide online pension submission and tracking system.

A memorial build in Galwan Valley by Indian Army

  • A memorial is built by Indian Army to honour the soldiers who lost their lives in the Galwan Valley clash with China.
  • 20 Indian Soldiers lost their lives in the clashes in the Galwan Valley.

LEGAL NEWS

Andhra Pradesh HC held that Department of Atomic Energy cannot prohibit grant of exploration license of Atomic Minerals to any private person permissible under the provisions of the OAMDR Act :

  • The Court further held and clarified that in the matter of grant of the operating right, it may be given to any person or private company for the atomic minerals but at the stage of giving the production lease for atomic minerals or prescribed substance, the consultation with the department of the Government of India dealing with the Atomic energy is required.

Madhya Pradesh HC registered a suo motu petition for pending criminal cases trials against MPs and MLAs

  • The action comes in compliance of the SC order dated 16.09.2020 (Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay & others v. Union of India & others).
    • The Manipur HC also directed the State Government to create two “exclusive Special Courts” at Imphal at the Sessions and Magisterial levels in order to ensure speedy trials of the pending criminal cases against sitting and former MPs and MLAs.
    • The Court further directs the State Government to take initiative for the same and ensure “safe and secure witness examination room”.

The NHRC has directed the DGP, Telangana to be personally present before it due to the alleged harassment of an anti-CAA protestor :

  • Due to the allegations of harassment by senior police officials against a person protesting against the CAA, 2019 in Telangana, in January this year; the Commission had issued conditional summons under Section 13 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 to the DGP, Telangana.
  • Owing to the “non-responsive attitude” of the DGP, the Commission asked him to remain personally present before it in relation to the allegations levied against him.

The normal functioning of the Orissa HC shall remain suspended till 20th November, 2020

  • The Orissa HC released a notice stating the same to continue the suspension of the normal functioning of the High Court till 20.11.2020.
  • The functioning of the Subordinate Courts/Tribunals shall continue as per the order dated 21.08.2020 until further orders.
  • The order further states that the HCs and its offices along with the Subordinate Courts/Tribunals and their offices in Orissa shall remain closed on all working Saturdays in the month of October, 2020.

Karnataka Government has affirmed its will of considering the transgender persons under the category of OBC, to the Karnataka HC :

  • The Karnataka Government after obtaining the opinion of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes is now willing to consider transgender under one of the categories of OBC for recruitment.
  • A plea regarding the same has been moved in the Karnataka HC.

Activist moves a petition in the Allahabad HC seeking the conduct of narco analysis test on the victim’s family

  • The letter petition comes as a result of the Allahabad HC Lucknow Bench taking suo motu cognizance of the Hathras Rape Case, particularly the action of the UP Police to cremate the victim’s remains without the consent or presence of the victim’s family.
  • The activist Saket Gokhale has therefore moved a letter petition in the Allahabad HC proposing narco analysis test to be conducted on the victim’s family.

Orissa HC quashes the 21-year-old murder conviction overturning a Trial Court’s murder conviction

  • The Court further remarked; “The Ld Trial Court has floundered to appreciate the evidences in proper perspective as law is well settled to exclude the evidence which is embedded in probabilities and went downhill to complete the chain of evidence…”
  • The Court describing the evidence put forth by the prosecution as “half-baked”, “embedded in probabilities”, and “fictionalized”, stated that the accused was entitled to the benefit of the doubt and therefore acquitted the accused and overturned the Trial Court’s order.

Rajasthan HC stayed its previous order permitting the schools to collect 70% of the annual tuition fees chargeable

  • Having stayed its earlier order, the Court has directed the schools to “await directions” of the Court and therefore not take any “coercive action” against the students.This direction will further remain in force till Friday, October 9th 2020
