Free Webinar on Legalities in the Music Industry, OTT Platforms and Licence Agreements by CAMEL

Warm and pleasant greetings from the Centre for Advancement of Media and Entertainment Laws (CAMEL).

About the Centre

Centre for Advancement in Media and Entertainment Laws is an in-house centre at Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad that focuses on the various aspects of media and entertainment laws and attempts to find possible solution to different issues in the field.

Objectives

Freedom of speech can be mishandled and manipulated in numerous ways by the media houses which can be seen in objective reporting, personal propaganda and falsification of reports. CAMEL intends to keep check and discuss among young budding lawyers and legal professionals as to when the Indian media has failed to fulfil its duties and how to solve the issues that has arisen due to the loopholes and lacunas in the regulations imposed upon the media.

We at CAMEL are proud to announce that we will be organising a webinar on the subject of Legalities in the Music Industry, OTT Platforms, and Licence Agreements, from the 25th of September to the 27th of September, 2020, for a period of one hour each day.

Over the course of three days, the centre aims to provide a holistic understanding of Entertainment Laws pertaining to the Music Industry as well as OTT Platforms, from division of royalties among the artists and the Record Labels and Rights pertaining to covers online, to benefits and drawbacks of releasing music directly to OTT Platforms, our extremely knowledgeable speakers are well-equipped to introduce to a dense subfield of Media and Entertainment Laws.


The webinar sessions will be streamed live on the SLSH YouTube channel, where both external students as well as students of Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad will be able to attend. The students will also be allowed to ask questions towards the end of each session in order to ensure a complete learning experience.


The webinar will be taught by Ms Sandhya Surendran, founder and counsel at Lexic India, as well as Mr. Biswarup Chakrabarty, Legal Head, at Eros Digital, both of whom have taken up this task of helping us understand this field of law better as well as develop our understanding and intricacies of the same.
